Chapter 2: The Truth Behind the Lie

Chapter 2: The Truth Behind the Lie
The second camera overlooked the ballroom from above.
This angle revealed everything the first one had missed.
The antique brooch had not fallen by accident.
Minutes earlier, Daniel himself had removed it from its velvet display case while checking the wedding gifts.
He slipped it into his jacket pocket.
Then, distracted by a phone call, he accidentally dropped it beside the gift table without noticing.
Gasps echoed through the room.
Daniel stared at the screen in disbelief.
"No..."
The manager rewound the footage.
Again.
And again.
Each replay showed the same unmistakable sequence.
Daniel had lost the brooch himself.
Lily had simply found it.
Emily held her daughter tighter.
"You hit an eight-year-old because of your own mistake."
Daniel tried to recover.
"I—I thought—"
"No," Emily interrupted.
"You never thought."
"You accused."
"You attacked."
"And you nearly killed a child."
The room fell deathly quiet.
Then the final camera angle appeared.
This one included audio.
Everyone heard Lily's tiny voice.
"Excuse me, mister...I think this belongs to you."
Daniel never turned around.
Instead, moments later, he noticed the missing brooch.
Without asking a single question...
Without searching...
Without checking the cameras...
He grabbed the heavy carved welcome sign.
The footage showed him swinging it toward Lily in blind rage.
Emily lunged to shield her daughter.
The wooden frame shattered against the marble floor.
A sharp piece struck Lily's forehead.
Several guests began crying.
Daniel's own mother covered her mouth.
"Oh my God..."
The groom slowly stepped away from his brother.
"I don't even know who you are anymore."
Police officers who had remained outside the ballroom quietly entered the security room.
One officer paused the video.
He looked directly at Daniel.
"Sir..."
"We need you to come with us."
Daniel didn't resist.
May you like
He couldn't.
Every second had been recorded.
