CHAPTER 3: THE NEW BEGINNING

One year later.

The Grant mansion no longer belonged to Daniel.

He had been sentenced to life in prison for attempted murder, conspiracy, and fraud.

Olivia sold the estate.

Instead, she opened something entirely different.

The Rosa Martinez Foundation.

A center that provided housing, healthcare, and education for domestic workers.

Hundreds attended the grand opening.

Journalists gathered outside.

One reporter asked Olivia:

"Why name it after a maid?"

Olivia smiled.

"No."

She shook her head.

"Not a maid."

She pointed toward Rosa.

"She's my hero."

Rosa immediately blushed.

The crowd applauded.

Nearby, Rosa's daughter ran across the garden laughing.

For the first time in years, peace filled the air.

Olivia turned toward Rosa.

"You know something?"

"What?"

Olivia smiled.

"Everyone in that funeral room thought wealth was the most powerful thing in the world."

Rosa laughed.

"It isn't."

"What is?"

Rosa answered without hesitation.

"A person who chooses to do the right thing when everyone else stays silent."

Olivia nodded.

Above them, the wind moved softly through the trees.

A year ago, one woman had been buried alive.

Today, she was truly living.

And all because one maid refused to ignore a tiny sound from inside a coffin.

Sometimes heroes don't wear expensive suits.

Sometimes...

May you like

They wear bright orange uniforms and carry an axe.
