CHAPTER 2: THE MAID WHO SAW EVERYTHING

Six hours later, Olivia sat inside a hospital room.

Doctors confirmed something horrifying.

She had never died.

She had been heavily sedated.

Enough to mimic death.

Olivia looked toward Rosa.

"How did you know?"

Rosa hesitated.

Then she pulled out a small silver necklace.

Olivia immediately recognized it.

She had given it to Rosa eight years ago.

Back when Rosa was a single mother struggling to survive.

"You saved my daughter," Rosa said quietly.

"I could never forget."

Olivia smiled weakly.

Then Rosa continued.

"Three nights ago, I overheard Daniel speaking on the phone."

She repeated his exact words.

'By tomorrow, she'll officially be dead. After the funeral, every dollar becomes mine.'

Olivia closed her eyes.

Tears rolled down her cheeks.

Twenty-two years of marriage.

Gone.

Destroyed by greed.

But Rosa wasn't finished.

She handed police a flash drive.

Inside was security footage.

Daniel meeting with a corrupt doctor.

Bank records.

Insurance policies worth eighty million dollars.

And one final video.

Daniel himself saying:

'Nobody checks if rich people are really dead.'

That sentence became national news overnight.

His empire collapsed before sunrise.

His business partners disappeared.

His investors fled.

And his reputation was destroyed forever.

But Olivia wasn't celebrating.

She was mourning.

May you like

Not her life.

The man she thought she knew.
