CHAPTER 3: A SECOND CHANCE

One year later.

The mansion looked completely different.

No security barriers.

No hidden secrets.

No fear.

Just life.

The father had stepped away from most of his business empire.

Instead, he established the Elena Foundation.

An organization dedicated to helping victims of identity theft, domestic abuse, and trauma survivors rebuild their lives.

Elena became its director.

Every employee was treated like family.

And every year, they hosted a charity gala.

This time, nobody wore masks.

As sunset painted the gardens gold, Chloe ran across the lawn wearing another puffy white dress.

She laughed loudly.

"Daddy! Mommy! Come play!"

The father grabbed Elena's hand.

For a moment, they simply watched their daughter.

Peacefully.

Silently.

The father smiled.

"I spent years building wealth."

He squeezed Elena's hand.

"But I almost lost everything that truly mattered."

Elena leaned her head against his shoulder.

"And now?"

He looked at Chloe.

"Now I know what being rich really means."

That evening, Chloe climbed onto a chair and raised a glass of sparkling apple juice.

The guests laughed.

The little girl grinned proudly.

"To family!"

Everyone raised their glasses.

The father kissed Elena's forehead.

And for the first time in a very long time...

Nobody was afraid of tomorrow.

Because sometimes the greatest miracle isn't that someone comes back from the dead.
