CHAPTER 2: THE MAN WHO STOLE A LIFE

Three days later.

The mansion had become a war room.

Private investigators.

Lawyers.

Federal agents.

Everyone was working around the clock.

Grace had regained consciousness and finally revealed the truth.

Six months earlier, while the father was suffering memory loss after the accident, someone had taken advantage of the chaos.

His own business partner.

Victor Langford.

A man he had trusted for twenty years.

Victor orchestrated everything.

He bribed hospital employees.

He falsified documents.

He kidnapped Elena and erased her identity.

Then he forced her to work under another name inside companies he secretly controlled.

Why?

Because Elena knew something dangerous.

She had discovered Victor was stealing hundreds of millions of dollars from the family foundation.

If she exposed him, he would lose everything.

So he made sure nobody would ever believe her.

The father sat in silence after hearing everything.

His face carried unbearable guilt.

"I failed you."

Elena gently touched his hand.

"No."

He looked up.

She smiled sadly.

"We both survived."

At that moment, Chloe ran into the room carrying a crayon drawing.

Three stick figures.

One big man.

One woman.

One little girl.

Above them she had written:

"Our family."

The father immediately burst into tears.

Hours later, federal agents arrested Victor at his private jet hangar.

As they placed handcuffs on him, he shouted angrily.

"You would've never found out without that little girl!"

The father answered calmly.

"No."

He looked toward Chloe.

May you like

"Truth always finds its way home."

Victor was taken away forever.
