Chapter 2: The Name on the Letterhead

Chapter 2: The Name on the Letterhead
The showroom looked the same, but the air didn’t feel the same anymore.
Employees whispered in corners.
The manager kept checking his email every thirty seconds.
Then it arrived.
Subject line: Immediate Review – Conduct Incident Report
He opened it.
His face slowly changed.
The elderly woman’s name was listed at the top.
Not as a customer.
Not as a visitor.
But as:
Founder Emeritus – Harrison Automotive Group.
The man leaned back in his chair.
“That’s impossible…” he whispered.
But then came the attachment.
Photos.
Old ones.
A younger version of the same woman, standing in front of the very first dealership building… holding a wrench… next to a prototype vehicle that no one in the company even remembered existed.
And a handwritten note scanned beneath it:
“One day, people will forget where things came from. I won’t.”
The manager stood up so fast his chair fell backward.
Across the showroom, the same assistant from earlier slowly whispered:
May you like
“…She built this company.”
Silence spread like fire.
