The groom tried to laugh.
"Come on. It was just a joke."
The bride smiled for the first time.
"No."
She pulled a small recording device from beneath the blanket on the wheelchair.
"It wasn't."
The screen behind the wedding altar suddenly lit up.
The guests watched in horror as hidden recordings played.
The groom's mother could be heard saying,
"If she embarrasses herself enough, she'll leave on her own."
Then came the groom's voice.
"After the wedding, we'll transfer her inheritance into a joint account... then file for divorce."
Murmurs spread through the crowd.
Several guests immediately stepped away from the groom.
The officiant quietly closed the marriage certificate.
The bride looked at him calmly.
"I knew you'd try something today."
"So I made sure everyone would hear the truth."
