Chapter 2: The Boy Who Heard the Truth

Hours earlier, Noah had wandered through the funeral home looking for his missing toy.

As he passed a storage hallway, he overheard Daniel speaking with two unfamiliar men.

"No one opens the casket," Daniel warned.

"The funeral ends, the will is read, and everything becomes mine."

One of the men hesitated.

"What if someone asks to see the body?"

"They won't," Daniel answered confidently.

"The casket stays closed."

Noah peeked around the corner.

He saw workers wheeling away another coffin while Daniel slipped them an envelope filled with cash.

The frightened boy didn't understand everything.

But he understood one thing.

The casket everyone would mourn was empty.

He searched desperately for an adult who would listen.
