Chapter 4 – The Recording

Chapter 4 – The Recording
Lily suddenly remembered something else.
She hadn't only seen the push.
She had recorded part of it.
The little girl loved pretending to make movies on an old tablet Rosa had given her.
While hiding near the staircase, she'd accidentally left the camera recording.
The video showed only a partial angle.
Not the push itself.
But enough.
Margaret's voice could clearly be heard saying,
"Don't touch me."
Then Vivien answered,
"If you won't approve this marriage, I'll make sure you never stand in my way again."
A second later...
A scream.
The tablet had slipped from Lily's hands.
The camera pointed toward the floor.
The fall wasn't visible.
But the voices were unmistakable.
Nathaniel arranged a formal engagement celebration two nights later.
Vivien thought he had finally forgiven her.
Nearly two hundred guests arrived.
Business leaders.
Judges.
Politicians.
Friends.
Family.
After the champagne toast, Nathaniel smiled warmly.
"I have one more surprise."
The ballroom lights dimmed.
The giant screen came alive.
Vivien's own voice echoed through the room.
May you like
"If you won't approve this marriage..."
Her face drained of color.
