CHAPTER 2 — THE SECRET HEIR

CHAPTER 2 — THE SECRET HEIR

Three hours later...

The old man finally opened his eyes.

The room burst into relieved applause.

Doctors smiled.

Nurses wiped away tears.

Only one person looked terrified.

His eldest son.

The billionaire slowly removed his oxygen mask.

His voice was weak...

But unmistakably clear.

"Where...

Where is Daniel?"

The room fell silent.

The wealthy man forced a smile.

"Father, I'm here."

The old man's eyes shifted past him.

"No."

"I wasn't talking to you."

He pointed toward the frightened little boy standing beside the window.

"Bring...

my grandson."

Shock rippled across the room.

"My... grandson?" one nurse whispered.

The businessman laughed nervously.

"Father, you're confused."

"You only have one grandson."

The old man's voice suddenly became firm.

"I know exactly who I am."

He reached for the boy's hand.

"This child is Daniel."

"The son of my youngest daughter."

"The daughter you told me died ten years ago."

The room froze.

The billionaire's face drained of color.

The old man continued.

"You lied."

"You forged the documents."

"You stole her inheritance."

"You told everyone she abandoned this family."

The little boy stared in confusion.

"My mommy... always said Grandpa loved us."

"But she said someone wouldn't let us come home."

The old man's eyes filled with tears.

"I searched for you for years."

The wealthy son suddenly shouted,

"None of this can be proven!"

Without saying a word...

The little boy handed the antique box to the old man.

Inside the hidden compartment rested a notarized birth certificate...

Family photographs...

Original property deeds...

And a voice recorder.

The old man pressed play.

The room echoed with a recording made years earlier.

It was the billionaire's own voice.

"If Father ever finds them...

everything belongs to the girl."

Silence.

Absolute silence.

The wealthy man realized...

His own greed had preserved the evidence that would destroy him.
