Chapter 2: The Woman Behind the Empire

Chapter 2: The Woman Behind the Empire
As security escorted Victor and Marissa toward the doors, employees began gathering throughout the mansion.
None of them looked surprised.
Instead...
Many quietly applauded.
Victor turned around.
"What is wrong with all of you?"
An elderly housekeeper stepped forward.
"No, Mr. Hale."
She smiled sadly.
"We've simply been waiting."
"For what?"
"For Ms. Carter to stop protecting you."
Victor frowned.
"What are you talking about?"
The assistant opened another file.
"For the past six years, every successful acquisition credited to Victor Hale..."
He flipped another page.
"...was personally negotiated by Ms. Elena Carter."
Every contract.
Every expansion.
Every international partnership.
Every record-breaking quarter.
Victor's signature appeared on every document.
But Elena's fingerprints were behind every decision.
Marissa shook her head.
"You're lying."
The assistant projected dozens of emails onto the room's massive screen.
Each one carried Elena's encrypted approval code.
Victor stared helplessly.
"You... let everyone believe I did it."
Elena nodded.
"Because I loved you."
Her words struck harder than any slap.
"I thought someday you'd become the man I believed you could be."
Victor lowered his head.
"And instead..."
"I became the man who hit you."
Silence filled the room.
Elena looked at him one last time.
"The company didn't lose a CEO today."
"It finally found one."
The employees erupted into applause.

Not because Victor had fallen.
But because the real leader had finally stepped into the light.
