The room fell into absolute silence.
Only seconds earlier, Victor Hale had stood over Elena Carter with the smug confidence of a man convinced he owned everything.
Now, he looked as though the ground had disappeared beneath his feet.
"What... what did you just say?" Victor whispered.
The assistant didn't even acknowledge him.
He stood beside Elena and repeated calmly, "The Board's emergency vote concluded fifteen minutes ago. Every remaining voting share has been transferred to Ms. Carter through the contingency agreement your late grandfather signed. As of this moment, she is the sole owner of Carter Global Holdings."
The color drained from Victor's face.
"No..."
He laughed nervously.
"That's impossible."
The assistant produced a thick leather folder.
"It has already been filed with the federal registry, approved by the courts, and acknowledged by every institutional investor."
He paused.
"Legally speaking... you no longer have authority over this company."
Marissa, still standing beside Victor, scoffed.
"This has to be fake."
Elena slowly stood.
Blood still stained the corner of her mouth.
She wiped it away with a silk handkerchief before looking directly into Victor's eyes.
"You always believed money made you untouchable."
She smiled.
"You never realized whose money it actually was."
Victor lunged toward the folder.
"I demand to see those papers!"
Two security officers stepped between them.
"You no longer have clearance, sir."
Victor froze.
For the first time in years...
Someone had told him no.
Elena's voice remained calm.
"Freeze every corporate account linked to Victor Hale."
The assistant nodded.
"It has already begun."
"My credit cards—"
"Disabled."
"My executive office—"
"Your access badge expired forty-three seconds ago."
"My penthouse?"
"The deed belongs to Carter Holdings."
Victor stared in disbelief.

Every luxury...
Every privilege...
Had vanished in less than a minute.
Marissa grabbed his arm.
"Victor, tell them this is a mistake!"
