Damian refused to believe it was over.
"There has to be a mistake!" he shouted as another notification flashed across his phone.
ACCOUNT PERMANENTLY SUSPENDED.
Every executive in the conference room quietly stepped away from him.
No one wanted to be associated with a man whose empire had collapsed in less than an hour.
Veronica finally realized the danger.
She hurried toward Elena, forcing tears into her eyes.
"Elena... please. I never meant for things to go this far."
Elena looked at her without emotion.
"You laughed while I was humiliated."
Veronica lowered her head.
"I was scared."
"No," Elena replied calmly.
"You were comfortable."
Security escorted Veronica from the building.
Meanwhile, Damian made one desperate call after another.
Banks refused him.
Law firms declined to represent him.
Even longtime business partners stopped answering.
The empire he had spent twenty years building had disappeared because the woman he dismissed had quietly owned the foundation beneath it all.
