The same courthouse where their marriage had almost ended hosted a very different gathering.
Judge Eleanor Hayes smiled as she reviewed one final document.
"So," she said warmly, "instead of finalizing a divorce..."
"...I'm dismissing the case."
Applause filled the courtroom.
The attorneys who had once prepared to divide billions now watched a little girl clap excitedly from her father's lap.
Rose grinned.
"Mommy!"
"Daddy!"
Those two words meant more to Ethan than every company he owned.
Outside the courthouse, reporters waited with cameras.
One asked, "Mr. Blackwood, what's the greatest lesson you've learned?"
Ethan looked at Amelia before answering.
"I spent my life believing success was measured by wealth."
He lifted Rose into his arms.
"Then I almost lost the only family that truly mattered."
He kissed his daughter's forehead.
"Money can rebuild companies."
"It can replace houses."
"It can buy almost anything."
"But it can never buy back the moments you choose to miss."
Amelia slipped her hand into his.
This time, neither of them let go.
As they walked away together, Rose laughed between them, her tiny hands holding both of theirs.
And for the first time in years, Ethan realized he wasn't the richest man because of the fortune he owned.
