Chapter 3: The Family They Never Expected

Chapter 3: The Family They Never Expected

The wedding resumed an hour later.

This time, there were no interruptions.

Only tears.

Happy ones.

When the bride walked down the aisle again, her mother carefully placed the veil back over her head with trembling hands.

"I should have been here the first time," she whispered.

"I'm here now."

The ceremony ended with cheers instead of heartbreak.

Months later, the family gathered for their first Thanksgiving together.

Old photographs covered the dining room walls.

Some were faded memories.

Others were brand-new pictures of birthdays, vacations, and Sunday dinners.

The bride often caught her mother staring at her with quiet amazement.

Sometimes they laughed about the years they had missed.

Sometimes they cried.

Neither wasted another day.

One evening, the groom asked his mother if she regretted telling the truth.

She smiled as she watched her daughter setting the dinner table.

"The truth almost ruined a wedding."

She paused.

"But it gave me back my child."

Then she looked at both of them.

"And it reminded me that family isn't built only by blood."

"It's built by love, sacrifice, forgiveness... and the courage to tell the truth."

The bride slipped her hand into her husband's.

Her mother wrapped an arm around both of them.

For the first time in twenty years...

No one in the family was missing anymore.

The End.
