CHAPTER 6: A New Beginning
One year later, the grand ballroom of Caldwell Grand Hotel was once again filled with guests.
This time, Eleanor stood beside Daniel as they announced a new foundation dedicated to supporting hospitality workers and providing scholarships for students from low-income families.
Among the volunteers serving the event was a familiar face.
Vanessa.
She wore a simple uniform, not designer clothes.
There were no cameras following her, no wealthy friends surrounding her, and no titles attached to her name.
She quietly carried trays, helped elderly guests find their seats, and thanked every employee she worked beside.
When Eleanor noticed her, she walked over.
"You've changed."
Vanessa lowered her eyes.
"I'm still changing."
Eleanor nodded.
"The most valuable lessons are the ones that cost us the most."
As the evening came to an end, Vanessa left without asking for forgiveness or recognition.
She finally understood that respect is not something you earn because of wealth, beauty, or status.
It is something you give freely.
