Chapter 1: The Truth No One Could Hide
"Mom... what have you done?"
Daniel's voice echoed through the marble foyer.
He wrapped one arm around Emily's trembling body while glaring at the woman who had raised him.
Margaret didn't flinch.
Instead, she calmly adjusted the pearls around her neck.
"She slipped," she said coldly. "Don't embarrass this family with ridiculous accusations."
Emily gasped in pain as Daniel carefully lifted her into his arms.
"No," she whispered. "She pushed me."
Margaret laughed.
"And who's going to believe you? A waitress from a tiny farming town? Against me?"
Daniel's eyes darkened.
"I believe my wife."
The room fell silent.
For the first time in decades, Margaret realized she no longer controlled her son.
At the hospital, doctors confirmed Emily had suffered a fractured wrist, multiple bruises, and a mild concussion.
While Daniel sat beside her bed, a nurse quietly approached.
"Sir... I think you should see this."
She handed him a small plastic evidence bag.
Inside was a smartwatch.
"It was still recording when your wife fell."
Daniel's hands shook as he pressed play.
Margaret's voice filled the room.
"You'll never be good enough for my son."
A loud shove.
Emily's scream.
Then Margaret's chilling words.
"I'd rather see you dead than carrying this family's name."
May you like
Daniel stopped breathing.
The truth had finally found its own witness.
