Chapter 3 – The Woman Who Stole a Family

Chapter 3 – The Woman Who Stole a Family
The older woman straightens her shoulders, trying to regain control.
Older Woman:
"You don't know what really happened."
The man steps between her and the little girl.
Protective.
Unshakable.
Man:
"Then tell me."
She lowers her eyes.
For the first time in decades...
she tells the truth.
Years earlier, after the children's parents died in a tragic accident, she secretly separated the siblings.
The inheritance would stay under her control if no one ever reunited them.
The little girl had been raised in isolation, told she had no family left.
The older woman's voice begins to shake.
Not from guilt.
From knowing everything is over.
The man quietly reaches for the little girl's hand.
She hesitates only a second before holding it tightly.
He smiles through tears.
A genuine smile.
The first either of them has shared in years.
Little Girl:
"So... I'm not alone anymore?"
May you like
He gently squeezes her hand.
Man:
"Never again."
