Chapter 3: The Empire Strikes Back

Chapter 3: The Empire Strikes Back

Massachusetts General Hospital became the safest building in Boston within minutes.

Black SUVs surrounded every entrance.

Private security occupied every hallway.

Inside the maternity unit, Maren finally slept peacefully while doctors monitored the baby.

"The contractions have stopped," the obstetrician reported.

"Fortunately, the placenta remains intact."

Damien closed his eyes in relief.

"Our son?"

The doctor smiled.

"Strong heartbeat."

Only then did Damien allow himself to breathe.

Across the city...

The consequences had already begun.

Marcus worked from a laptop.

"Ashford Capital just lost every international banking partner."

Damien nodded once.

"Good."

"Mercer Pharmaceuticals?"

"Every pending merger has collapsed."

"And Calloway Holdings?"

Marcus almost smiled.

"Their lenders demanded immediate repayment."

Within six hours...

Three billionaire families lost billions.

Not because Damien threatened them.

Because every corporation in his network quietly decided that doing business with people who terrorized a pregnant woman carried too much risk.

The phones inside each mansion rang nonstop.

No one answered.

Everyone already knew why.

Back at the hospital, Maren finally woke.

Damien sat beside her bed holding her hand.

"You never stopped looking for me?"

He smiled sadly.

"I crossed three continents."

She swallowed.

"I sold your gifts."

"I don't care."

"I thought you were gone."

"I know."

She looked down.

"I wanted you to meet your baby."

May you like

Damien kissed her forehead.

"I still will."
