CHAPTER 6 – WHAT REMAINED

CHAPTER 6 – WHAT REMAINED

One year later, life looked remarkably ordinary.

Sarah had received a newly designed prosthetic, lighter and stronger than the previous one.

She was back at the children's hospital, where little patients proudly called her "Super Nurse."

Our lawsuit against Eleanor's estate resulted in the recovery of millions of dollars that were returned to the rightful beneficiaries, including charitable foundations my father had intended to support.

The country club eventually replaced the damaged entrance doors.

Whenever I walked through them, I remembered that awful crunch.

Not with anger anymore.

With gratitude.

Because the woman who tried to humiliate my wife had unknowingly exposed herself instead.

Courage isn't the absence of fear.

Sometimes courage is simply standing beside the person you love while the world watches—and refusing to let cruelty have the final word.

The titanium shaft Eleanor tried to break became the strongest symbol of our lives.

Not because of what it concealed.

But because of what it revealed.

The truth.

And in the end, the truth proved stronger than wealth, power, or fear.

THE END
