CHAPTER 2 — MY GRANDMOTHER'S SECRET

CHAPTER 2 — MY GRANDMOTHER'S SECRET

"I don't understand," I whispered.

"My grandmother made this dress."

Professor Harrington looked at me sharply.

"Your grandmother?"

I nodded.

"She raised me after my parents died."

"What was her name?"

"Eleanor Brooks."

The professor froze.

For several long seconds, he didn't blink.

"Eleanor..."

His voice cracked.

"She changed her name."

The room stared in confusion.

Professor Harrington slowly pulled an old photograph from his wallet.

It was faded with age.

Standing beside a younger Professor Harrington was a beautiful woman wearing the exact same crest.

I almost dropped the picture.

It was my grandmother.

Twenty-five years younger.

"My research partner," he whispered.

"She vanished thirty years ago before we uncovered the greatest historical discovery of our lives."

My heart pounded.

"You knew her?"

"I loved her."

May you like

The confession stunned the entire ballroom.

"But she disappeared before I could tell her."
