Six months later, sunlight poured through the living room windows as tiny Sofia Castillo slept peacefully in her father's arms.
The house felt different now.
Quiet.
Safe.
Filled with laughter instead of fear.
The investigation had uncovered far more than anyone expected.
Margaret had forged official documents, intercepted mail, impersonated Elena with medical providers, and worked with outside accomplices to build a false record of parental neglect.

The court permanently dismissed every claim she had made against Elena.
