Chapter 2 — The Price of Betrayal

Chapter 2 — The Price of Betrayal
The next morning, every executive gathered inside the company's boardroom.
No one knew why Richard had suddenly called an emergency meeting.
When the elevator doors opened, the room froze.
Richard walked inside.
Not in a wheelchair.
On his own.
Gasps echoed across the room.
Several directors immediately stood.
Others looked toward Margaret in complete confusion.
Richard reached the head of the table.
"I've allowed enough lies."
One screen after another lit up.
Security footage.
Financial records.
Secret transfers.
Private emails.
Every betrayal Margaret had hidden for years unfolded before everyone's eyes.
Daniel felt sick.
His mother hadn't simply been cruel.
She had been quietly stealing control of the family company while Richard appeared incapable of stopping her.
Margaret slammed both hands onto the table.
"This is manipulation!"
Richard calmly pressed one button.
Another video appeared.
Margaret secretly meeting competitors.
Selling confidential information.
Planning to remove Richard permanently from the company once his health declined.
The room fell into stunned silence.
One elderly board member slowly stood.
"I move that Margaret Sullivan be removed from the board immediately."
Another voice followed.
"I second the motion."
Within seconds...
Every hand rose.
Except hers.
The vote was unanimous.
Margaret looked around the room she once controlled.
No one stood beside her anymore.
Not even her own son.
Daniel lowered his eyes.
"I'm sorry, Mom."

She realized too late...
Power borrowed through fear always expires.
