Six months passed.

Ward Global reached record profits.

Employees received raises.

Scholarship programs expanded.

New hospitals were funded across the country.

For the first time...

The company reflected the values my grandfather had dreamed of.

One evening, I visited his favorite bench overlooking the city skyline.

He had once told me,

"Power doesn't reveal who you are.

It gives you the opportunity to become who you've always been."

A familiar voice interrupted my thoughts.

"Congratulations."

I turned.

Daniel.

He looked older.

Thinner.

Humbler.

"I don't expect forgiveness," he said.

"I only wanted to say... I'm sorry."

There was no anger left in me.

Only clarity.

"I loved the man I thought you were."

He lowered his eyes.

"I know."

Then he walked away.
