CHAPTER 4 — Patricia's Last Gamble
Patricia refused to surrender.
She filed lawsuits.
Held interviews.
Claimed I manipulated her son.
She even accused me of hiding my inheritance to trap Daniel.
Then...
The evidence arrived.
Thousands of emails.
Board minutes.
Financial records.
Every document proved one thing.
Daniel had knowingly claimed credit for projects he never led.
Worse...
He had secretly approved millions in unauthorized executive bonuses.
The investigation spread quickly.
Investors demanded accountability.
Banks withdrew their support.
The lawsuits Patricia filed...
Disappeared almost overnight.
Instead...
Daniel became the defendant.
One rainy afternoon...
Patricia appeared outside my office.
She looked ten years older.
"I was wrong," she whispered.
"I judged you before I ever knew you."
I studied her face.
She was finally telling the truth.
But some truths arrive too late.
"I forgive you," I said calmly.
"But forgiveness doesn't erase consequences."
She lowered her head.

Without another word...
She walked away.
