CHAPTER 1 – The Fall of a King
The silence inside the mansion lasted only a few seconds after Elena walked out.
Then chaos erupted.
"Call the board!" Daniel shouted, grabbing his phone with trembling hands.
No signal.
His company-issued phone had already been remotely disabled.
"What the hell is happening?"
His assistant finally answered on his personal phone.
"Mr. Ward... the emergency board meeting has already started."
"What meeting?"
"The one Ms. Ward called."
Daniel's stomach tightened.
"I never approved—"
"You no longer have the authority."
The line went dead.
Twenty minutes later...
Daniel burst into the corporate headquarters.
Security stopped him before he reached the elevator.
"I'm the CEO."
The guard looked uncomfortable.
"I'm sorry, sir."
He handed Daniel a sealed envelope.
Inside was a single page.
Effective immediately, Daniel Ward has been removed as Chief Executive Officer by unanimous vote of the Board of Directors.
His access cards were already deactivated.
The elevator doors closed without him.
For the first time in years...
Daniel realized he no longer belonged inside the building that carried his own name.
Meanwhile...
On the top floor.
Elena entered the boardroom.
Every director stood.
No applause.
Only respect.
"Welcome back, Chairwoman."
