Chapter 1: The Morning Everything Changed

By sunrise, the Hawthorne mansion no longer felt like home.

Andrew woke to dozens of missed calls.

His first instinct was irritation.

His second was panic.

Every company account had been frozen.

The board had scheduled an emergency meeting.

His executive access had been suspended.

"What is going on?" he shouted into the phone.

No one gave him a clear answer.

Then his chief financial officer finally said the words that changed everything.

"Andrew... Mariana activated the Founder Protection Clause."

Silence filled the room.

"What clause?"

The CFO hesitated.

"The one that gives her controlling authority over every major corporate asset."

Andrew laughed.

Then he stopped laughing when he realized nobody else was.
