Chairman Richard Whitmore walked directly to Emily and helped her to her feet himself.
"I've been searching for you for twelve years," he said quietly.
The lobby erupted with whispers.
Richard explained that Emily's mother had been his younger sister. After a family misunderstanding decades earlier, she had cut ties with the Whitmore family and raised Emily on her own. Richard had spent years trying to find them, only to discover that his sister had passed away months earlier.
Emily had inherited more than family memories.
She had unknowingly become the beneficiary of a substantial trust and a permanent seat on the Rosemont Health Foundation's Board of Trustees.
