The executive boardroom overlooked the city skyline.
Twenty directors were already waiting.
When Elena entered...
Every person stood.
"Good morning, Ms. Ward."
Not one person called her Mrs. Ward anymore.
She smiled politely.
"Please sit."
Her chief legal officer placed several files in front of her.
"The ownership transfer has been completed."
"The CEO position is officially vacant."
One director asked,
"Would you like us to appoint a replacement immediately?"
Elena looked out the window.
"No."
"I'll handle the company myself."
The room fell silent.
Another director smiled.
"Just like your grandfather."
Meanwhile...
Daniel rushed into headquarters.
His employee badge no longer worked.
Security guards stopped him.
"I'm the CEO!"
One guard looked genuinely uncomfortable.
"I'm sorry, sir."
"Not anymore."
Employees watched from the lobby.
Some whispered.
Some looked away.
Others secretly recorded everything.
