PART 4 – The Truth Behind Valeria Mendoza

PART 4 – The Truth Behind Valeria Mendoza

That night, I opened the file my father brought.

My real identity wasn’t just hidden.

It had been rebuilt.

Valeria Mendoza didn’t exist before my father created her.

She was a shield.

A decoy.

A way to test who would love me without my name.

Santiago failed.

But there was something worse.

A second set of documents.

Old ones.

From before our marriage.

Santiago hadn’t chosen me randomly.

He had been guided.

By Beatriz.

My eyes froze.

“She knew who I was,” I whispered.

My father nodded slowly.

“She targeted you before Santiago ever met you.”

My stomach tightened.

This wasn’t just abuse.

This was selection.

Engineering.

My father closed the file.

“There’s something else,” he said.

He hesitated.

“For the last six months… someone inside your marriage was reporting everything you did.”

I already knew before he finished.

Santiago shook his head when I looked at him.

“No,” he said quickly. “I didn’t—”

Beatriz interrupted him.

“I did.”

Her voice was calm again.

Too calm.

“I needed to make sure she was stable enough to carry the inheritance child.”

A chill went through the room.

Inheritance.

That word again.

I looked at her.

“You were never trying to control me,” I said slowly.

“You were trying to use me.”

Beatriz smiled.

“Yes.”

May you like

One word.

Like it was normal.
