Part 3 – One Year Later (The End)

Part 3 – One Year Later (The End)

Snow fell again over Christmas lights.

But this Christmas looked different.

Lauren stood on the front porch of a beautiful home in Ohio.

Lily and Noah were laughing in matching red sweaters.

Inside the house, her brother Daniel was hanging ornaments while her mother baked cinnamon cookies.

The air smelled warm.

Safe.

Real.

Lauren had rebuilt her life piece by piece.

She had returned to marketing remotely.

She bought her own home.

She laughed again.

Most importantly…

She no longer woke up afraid.

Her phone buzzed.

Another message from Cole.

His one hundred and twenty-third attempt in a year.

I know I destroyed everything. I just want one chance to apologize.

Lauren stared at the message.

Then she smiled softly.

Not because she forgave him.

Not because she hated him.

But because she felt absolutely nothing anymore.

She deleted the message.

Noah ran toward her.

"Mommy! Come help us decorate the tree!"

Lauren put her phone away forever.

"Coming, sweetheart."

She walked inside, closed the door, and left the past standing outside in the snow.

Because sometimes the greatest revenge is not making someone suffer.

It's proving you never needed them to survive.

And the man who chose his mistress over his family finally learned the most painful lesson of all:

May you like

The woman he underestimated became the one thing he could never get back.

The End.
