Chapter 3: The Trial Everyone Watched

Chapter 3: The Trial Everyone Watched

The courthouse overflowed with reporters.

Attempted murder.

Conspiracy.

Insurance fraud.

Evidence tampering.

Obstruction of justice.

The prosecution barely needed witnesses.

The videos spoke for themselves.

Every juror watched Margaret slowly pour boiling tea across my chest while I lay unable to move.

Some looked away.

Others cried.

Then came Daniel's footage.

The moment he quietly slipped my EpiPen into his pocket.

The moment he watched me suffocate.

The defense tried everything.

"It was panic."

"It was confusion."

"It was taken out of context."

Rebecca calmly answered every argument with timestamps, forensic reports, and synchronized recordings from all three hidden cameras.

Then the forensic accountant I had hired months earlier testified.

Daniel had secretly increased my life insurance policy four separate times.

He had also researched:

"How long does fatal anaphylaxis take?"

"Can allergies appear accidental?"

"Insurance payout after spouse dies naturally."

The courtroom became completely silent.

The jury needed less than three hours.

Guilty on every count.

Margaret collapsed into her chair.

Daniel simply closed his eyes.

He already knew.

The rest of his life had just been decided.
