Chapter 3: Everything He Built Began to Fall

"You can't arrest me!"

Alexander backed away from the officers.

"This is my home!"

One detective calmly replied,

"We have probable cause for aggravated domestic assault, unlawful threats, and multiple counts of domestic violence."

As handcuffs clicked around his wrists, Alexander looked desperately toward Richard.

"You don't understand."

"She's my wife."

Richard stepped closer.

"No."

"You were merely the man she married."

His attorney entered behind the officers carrying another file.

"We've completed the emergency review."

He handed Emma several documents.

"The court has already approved a temporary protective order."

Alexander's eyes widened.

"What?"

"Due to the immediate danger to both mother and unborn child."

Emma signed quietly.

For years she had imagined this moment.

She expected satisfaction.

Instead...

She felt exhausted.

One officer gently helped her sit down while paramedics checked the baby.

The heartbeat echoed through the portable monitor.

Strong.

Steady.

Emma burst into tears.

Not because she was afraid anymore.

Because for the first time in years...

She finally believed her child would grow up safe.

Meanwhile, Richard received a phone call.

"It's begun," his assistant said.

"What has?"

"We've notified every company that partners with Vale Enterprises."

Richard looked through the penthouse windows.

"Good."

By sunrise the next morning, the headlines flooded every financial news outlet.

VALE ENTERPRISE CEO ARRESTED AFTER EVIDENCE OF DOMESTIC ABUSE SURFACES.

Investors fled.

Banks froze credit lines.

Board members demanded Alexander's resignation.

The luxury lifestyle he had built almost entirely on reputation began collapsing within hours.

His own mother rushed to the courthouse insisting Emma was lying.

Then prosecutors played one recording.

Alexander's voice filled the courtroom.

"If you ever leave me, I'll make sure no one believes you."

The room fell silent.

Even his mother's attorney lowered his head.

Weeks later, Emma officially filed for divorce.

Alexander tried offering millions.

Then tens of millions.

She rejected every offer.

"I don't want your money."

"I want my peace."

The judge awarded Emma sole custody before the baby was even born, citing overwhelming evidence of abuse.

Alexander was denied unsupervised parental rights pending future legal proceedings.
