Chapter 1: The Truth Beneath the Snow

Chapter 1: The Truth Beneath the Snow
The fire crackled softly, filling the room with warmth that the woman still couldn't feel.
Wrapped in a thick wool blanket, she trembled uncontrollably as the man gently rubbed her frozen hands between his own.
"You're safe now," he whispered.
Tears streamed down her cheeks.
"No..." she murmured weakly. "Nothing is safe anymore."
He frowned.
"What happened out there?"
She hesitated before lifting her eyes toward the large window overlooking the snow-covered courtyard.
"They left me to die."
Silence swallowed the room.
The man's jaw tightened.
"Who?"
She slowly turned toward the grand staircase.
"My husband's family."
Before he could respond, the mansion doors burst open.
The elegant guests who had watched from the balcony stepped inside, followed by an older woman wrapped in an expensive fur coat.
She smiled coldly.
"There she is," the woman sneered.
"I see she survived."
The room instantly fell silent.
The man rose to his feet, placing himself between the frightened woman and the family.
His voice became dangerously calm.
"Explain."
The older woman laughed.
"She embarrassed our family."
"So we simply put her outside."
"It was only snow."
The man's expression darkened.
"Only snow?"
His icy stare sent a chill through everyone in the room.

"No."
"It was attempted murder."
