Chapter 5: Home Again

Chapter 5: Home Again
One year later...
Our house looked completely different.
The grand dining room had become Leo's art studio.
The formal sitting room was now filled with books, puzzles, and comic books.
Business trophies had been replaced by framed drawings.
Every Friday night became pizza night.
Every Saturday morning we played catch.
Every Sunday we visited Claire's grave together.
One afternoon, I found Leo quietly slipping a folded piece of paper beneath my office door.
Just like he used to.
I unfolded it.
It showed two superheroes standing in front of a house.
Above them, written in his careful handwriting, were six simple words.
Home is where Daddy keeps me safe.
I sat down in my chair and cried.
Not because of everything we'd lost.
But because, after the darkest chapter of our lives, my son finally believed he was safe again.

And this time...
I would spend every single day proving he was right.
