Chapter 2: The Lockdown

Chapter 2: The Lockdown

The thunderous boom of the doors echoed through the ballroom.

Silence lasted only half a second.

Then chaos exploded.

Guests in designer gowns and tailored tuxedos rushed toward the massive entrance, pounding against the ornate steel-lined doors. They refused to budge. Security guards grabbed the handles, shouting into their radios.

"No response!"

"The system's offline!"

Someone screamed.

The crystal chandeliers continued to sparkle overhead, mocking the panic unfolding beneath them.

The groom grabbed the woman by her wrist.

"What did you do?"

She calmly pulled her hand free.

"I told you," she whispered. "Too late."

His confident smile vanished.

Every emergency exit on the floor suddenly flashed red.

LOCKDOWN INITIATED.

A mechanical voice filled the ballroom.

"Executive Protocol Omega activated."

The crowd froze.

The groom frowned.

"Omega? That's impossible. Only the founder—"

His sentence died in his throat.

The woman slowly reached into the folds of her white gown and removed a slim black access card engraved with a single silver symbol.

The same symbol that appeared on every security monitor in the building.

May you like

For the first time all night...

She smiled.
