Chapter 1: The Owner of the Estate

Chapter 1: The Owner of the Estate

A heavy silence settled over the ballroom.

No one moved.

The steel barriers had sealed every entrance and every exit.

Even the music system had gone dead.

The only sound left was the nervous breathing of nearly three hundred guests.

My attacker took a hesitant step backward.

"You can't do this," he barked, though his confidence had already begun to crack.

"This isn't your property."

I looked at him without blinking.

"No?"

Before I could answer, every television screen hidden behind the ballroom's decorative mirrors flickered to life.

The estate's emblem appeared.

Then a familiar face filled every screen.

My father.

Richard Ashford.

Founder and Chairman of Ashford Global Holdings.

One of the wealthiest and most influential men in the country.

The room erupted in whispers.

"Oh my God..."

"That's Richard Ashford..."

"Why is he here?"

My father's voice echoed through the ballroom.

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen."

"I sincerely apologize for interrupting your celebration."

"But this event is officially over."

He paused.

"My daughter has been assaulted."

Gasps spread through the crowd.

"And until every person responsible is identified..."

"No one leaves."

The man standing in front of me laughed nervously.

"Your daughter?"

He looked at me.

Then back at the screen.

"No..."

"No..."

His face slowly drained of color.

My father continued.

"For twenty-eight years..."

"I deliberately kept my daughter out of public attention."

"She chose to build her own life."

"She refused to use our family name."

"But tonight..."

"You forced my hand."

Every screen switched to live security footage.

The cameras had captured everything.

Every shove.

Every insult.

Every punch.

Every guest who stood by and watched.

No one could deny what had happened.

Not anymore.

My attacker stumbled backward.

"This... this has to be fake."

I quietly removed the silver necklace I had worn since childhood.

Hidden beneath it was a small platinum crest.

The Ashford family seal.

The same emblem glowing on every screen.

"I never needed my last name to prove my worth."

I looked directly into his terrified eyes.

"But tonight..."

"You earned the privilege of learning it."

May you like

His knees nearly gave out.

The heir who believed he ruled the city had just discovered whose house he had walked into.
