Chapter 5: The Last Door
Six months later.
The ballroom looked exactly as it had that night.
Crystal chandeliers.
Polished marble.
Perfect music.
But everything else had changed.
The man who had attacked me had been convicted after overwhelming physical evidence, security footage, and eyewitness testimony.
Several executives who attempted to interfere with the investigation resigned in disgrace.
The charity foundation adopted new policies protecting employees, guests, and staff from harassment and violence.
As for me...
People often asked whether I regretted locking the doors.
I always gave the same answer.
"I didn't lock them to trap anyone."
"I locked them to preserve the truth."
Justice is fragile.
Sometimes it disappears because people run.
More often, it disappears because everyone else looks away.
That night, no one could leave before facing what they had witnessed.
And in the end, the strongest walls in that mansion were never made of steel.
They were built from evidence.
