He pointed toward Richard Lawson.

The room froze.
Richard's hands trembled.

Every director stared at Richard.
Daniel pulled several documents from his briefcase.
Signed approvals.
Encrypted emails.
Secret bonus payments.
Richard collapsed into his chair.
"I made one mistake..."
"No," Evelyn answered.
"You made hundreds."
Richard looked up with tears in his eyes.
"My daughter needed surgery."
"I borrowed the money."
"I planned to pay everything back."
Evelyn remained silent.
She understood desperation.
But she also understood responsibility.
