Chapter 2: The Hidden Traitor

Evelyn slowly walked around the conference table.

"I've spent the last six months investigating this personally."

Everyone looked confused.

She had visited dozens of branches wearing ordinary clothes.

No security escort.

No luxury car.

Just another customer.

She had witnessed employees ignoring elderly clients while treating wealthy-looking customers like royalty.

She had seen managers approving suspicious loans.

She had even overheard executives discussing illegal commissions.

No one recognized her.

That had been her greatest advantage.

Finally, she stopped behind Executive Vice President Daniel Brooks.

"Daniel."

He forced a smile.

"Yes, Madam Chairwoman?"

"You approved twenty-seven shell-company loans."

"They were legitimate investments."

"Were they?"

She pressed a button on the remote.

The large screen lit up.

Video footage appeared.

Daniel was shown meeting with a known money-laundering broker in Singapore.

The date.

The location.

The bank transfers.

Everything.

Daniel's face lost all color.

"You hired a private investigator..."

Evelyn shook her head.

May you like

"No."

"I investigated you myself."
