CHAPTER 2: THE BRIDE REALIZED SHE HAD NEVER BEEN THE WOMAN JULIAN WANTED…

The Fall of a Perfect Wedding

Chaos spread through the ballroom like wildfire.

Guests scrambled to their feet, chairs scraped against the marble floor, and dozens of phones captured the unbelievable scene as federal agents surrounded Richard Sterling.

The once-powerful businessman stood frozen.

His expensive tuxedo suddenly looked like nothing more than a costume hiding a frightened old man.

"Julian!"

Richard's voice cracked.

"You planned this?"

Julian stopped walking but never turned around.

"I planned exactly what you taught me to plan," he answered calmly.

"You taught me that power belongs to the person who strikes first."

The agents pulled Richard's hands behind his back.

Cold steel cuffs snapped shut.

Across the room, Amelia—the bride—could barely breathe.

She stared at Julian as though she had never seen him before.

"Tell me this isn't real."

Her voice trembled.

"Please... tell me."

Julian finally looked at her.

There was no anger in his eyes.

No satisfaction.

Only exhaustion.

"It is."

She shook her head violently.

"No... we were getting married."

"No," Julian replied quietly.

"You were attending the final meeting of my father's empire."

The words cut deeper than any scream.
