Chapter 2: The Hidden Thief
Before anyone could speak, a voice came from the back of the ballroom.
"Wait..."
The elegant woman from the video slowly stepped forward, her hands trembling.
"I took it."
She reached into her purse and pulled out a small velvet jewelry box containing an antique diamond brooch worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Tears filled her eyes.
"I wasn't stealing it for money," she confessed. "It belonged to my late mother. My family sold it years ago, and seeing it displayed here made me lose my judgment."
The room remained silent.
The young man looked horrified.
"My anger hurt an innocent child," he said, dropping to one knee before the little girl. "I'm so sorry."
The mother didn't answer immediately.
She simply looked at her daughter's bandaged forehead before saying quietly,

"An apology doesn't erase fear."
The words hit everyone harder than any shout ever could.
