Chapter 2: Ethan's Perfect Crime Falls Apart

Judge Reynolds postponed the divorce hearing.

"This court requires additional review."

Victoria's attorney wasn't finished.

"There is another matter."

Daniel connected a projector.

A series of financial records appeared on the courtroom screen.

Shell companies.

Offshore accounts.

Fake consulting businesses.

Millions of dollars.

Ethan shifted uneasily.

"What is this?"

Daniel smiled.

"The money Mr. Walker claimed no longer existed."

Victoria folded her arms.

"My financial investigators discovered that Mr. Walker secretly transferred nearly forty million dollars during the marriage while presenting himself as nearly bankrupt."

Gasps echoed again.

Judge Reynolds adjusted his glasses.

"Mr. Walker..."

"...did you knowingly conceal marital assets?"

Ethan's lawyer whispered urgently.

"Don't answer."

Too late.

His face had already answered.

Daniel continued.

"Additionally..."

He clicked another slide.

Surveillance photos.

Luxury vacations.

Jewelry purchases.

Payments to a woman named Chloe Simmons.

Ethan's mistress.

Made with money he claimed never existed.

Judge Reynolds looked furious.

"This court may now be considering fraud."

Ethan stood abruptly.

"This is harassment!"

"No," Victoria replied.

"It's accountability."
