Chapter 3 – A Family Reclaimed

The hearing was postponed.

Outside the courthouse...

Dozens of reporters surrounded the entrance.

Flashes exploded everywhere.

Victoria shielded Madison with her body.

"My daughter will answer no questions."

For the first time...

Someone protected Madison.

Inside Victoria's limousine, silence lingered.

Then Madison whispered,

"Why didn't you ever stop looking?"

Victoria looked out the window.

"Because a mother's heart never forgets."

She opened a worn envelope.

Inside was a tiny hospital bracelet.

Baby Girl Kensington.

June 12.

Madison covered her mouth.

"My birthday..."

Victoria nodded.

"I carried that bracelet every day for twenty-eight years."

They embraced.

Both crying.

Years of loneliness disappeared in a single moment.

Then Victoria smiled.

"And there's someone else waiting to meet you."

Madison frowned.

"My grandfather?"

Victoria laughed softly.

"No."

"Your grandmother."

Everyone believed Eleanor Kensington had died ten years earlier.

She hadn't.

Victoria had hidden her away after multiple kidnapping attempts threatened the family.
