Chapter 1 – The Woman Who Changed Everything

The courtroom remained frozen.

Even Judge Reynolds stared at Victoria Kensington in disbelief.

Ethan folded his arms with a mocking grin.

"This has to be some kind of joke."

Victoria slowly turned toward him.

"No," she replied calmly.

"The joke is that you believed you could destroy my daughter and walk away richer for it."

A murmur spread through the courtroom.

Madison could barely breathe.

"I... I don't understand."

Victoria smiled through tears.

"Twenty-eight years ago, someone kidnapped my newborn daughter from St. Mary's Hospital."

She reached into a leather portfolio.

"My husband spent the rest of his life searching."

Another document appeared.

"Before he died, he made me promise I would never stop."

She handed a DNA report to the bailiff.

Judge Reynolds adjusted his glasses.

Ninety-nine point nine nine percent.

Mother.

Daughter.

The courtroom gasped.

Madison's knees nearly gave out.

Victoria caught her before she could fall.

"You were never abandoned."

"You were stolen."

Madison burst into tears.

For the first time in her life...

Someone held her like family.

Across the room, Ethan's confident smile disappeared.
