Chapter 3: The Flight That Changed Their Lives

Three months later, Sophie was healthy.

Completely healthy.

The doctors called it remarkable.

Alexander called it a miracle.

He knew better.

The miracle had a name.

Estelle Quinn.

On a bright autumn afternoon in Boston, Estelle returned to her apartment after work.

She still lived in the same building.

Still drove the same old car.

Still thought her life was ordinary.

Then she opened her door.

And froze.

Alexander stood inside holding flowers.

Sophie sat beside him clutching Bunny.

The same stuffed rabbit from the plane.

"What are you doing here?" Estelle asked.

Sophie grinned.

"We came to kidnap you."

Alexander chuckled.

"Legally."

Estelle laughed for the first time in days.

Then Alexander stepped forward.

His expression became serious.

"The day you boarded my plane by mistake..."

He paused.

"...was the luckiest day of my life."

Estelle's eyes widened.

Alexander took a slow breath.

"You saved my daughter."

Another step.

"You saved me."

And then he pulled a small velvet box from his pocket.

Sophie gasped dramatically.

Even though she already knew.

Alexander knelt down.

"Estelle Quinn."

His voice shook slightly.

"Will you stop accidentally boarding my plane and intentionally spend the rest of your life with us?"

Tears filled Estelle's eyes.

Real ones.

The kind that arrive when happiness catches you off guard.

She looked at Sophie.

Then Alexander.

Then the little rabbit.

And finally smiled.

"Yes."

Sophie screamed louder than anyone.

Months later, at their wedding reception, Alexander raised a glass.

"To wrong flights."

Everyone laughed.

But he wasn't joking.

Because one exhausted nanny had boarded the wrong plane.

May you like

And somehow found exactly where she was meant to be.

The End.
