Chapter 3: The Truth Behind the Mask

Chapter 3: The Truth Behind the Mask
Within minutes, the hotel's executive staff rushed into the lobby.
The general manager arrived first, followed by the head of security and the company's legal director.
They all bowed respectfully.
"Ms. Harper," the general manager said, ashamed, "we've been trying to contact you for years."
The bruised woman nodded.
"I know."
Twenty years earlier, after her parents died in a suspicious plane crash, she disappeared under a witness protection program. To keep her alive, every public record identifying her as the Soulmore heir had been sealed.
She had spent years living quietly under another name.
Only recently had she discovered evidence suggesting that the crash had never been an accident.
She had returned to Soulmore Resort to uncover the truth.
Instead...
She had been assaulted by the very executive who had been abusing the company's authority.
The legal director turned toward the woman in white.
"Ms. Collins..."
"We've completed a preliminary review."
"You falsely claimed ownership of company assets..."
"Used corporate funds for personal expenses..."
"And ordered employees to remove guests without legal authority."
Security officers stepped forward.
The woman in white panicked.
"You can't arrest me! I know powerful people!"
The bruised woman looked at her calmly.

"You confused borrowed power with earned respect."
The lobby erupted into applause.
