Chapter 3: Home Again

Chapter 3: Home Again

Six months later.

Mercer House looked different.

The chandeliers still sparkled.

The marble floors still gleamed.

The wealth remained.

But the atmosphere had changed entirely.

It finally felt like a home.

The grand ballroom had been transformed into a playroom every afternoon.

Expensive decorations were replaced by crayons, stuffed animals, and children's books.

Logan no longer missed bedtime.

He no longer delegated fatherhood to someone else.

One sunny morning, Emma ran through the garden laughing.

Actual laughter.

The sound Logan once feared he would never hear.

Sophia sat nearby reading a storybook.

Emma suddenly climbed onto her lap.

Then she looked toward Logan.

“Daddy.”

Logan smiled.

“Yes, sweetheart?”

The little girl grinned.

“Mommy makes pancakes better than you.”

Sophia burst into laughter.

Logan pretended to be offended.

“Betrayed by my own daughter.”

Emma giggled harder.

It was such a simple moment.

Yet more precious than every diamond in Mercer House.

Logan walked over and sat beside them.

Sophia leaned gently against his shoulder.

For a long time, nobody spoke.

Nobody needed to.

Because peace is often quiet.

Eventually Emma wrapped her tiny arms around both of them.

“Family.”

One word.

One perfect word.

Logan kissed the top of her head.

“Family,” he repeated softly.

Inside the house that had once been built on secrets, fear, and lies…

A new foundation had finally been created.

Truth.

Forgiveness.

And love that never truly disappeared.

And this time…

Nobody would ever take it away again.

The End.
