Part 3: The Truth Nobody Wanted To Hear
The man opened the envelope with shaking fingers.
Inside was a handwritten letter.
As he read it, tears filled his eyes.
Emily explained everything.
Twenty years earlier, his powerful parents had secretly paid her to leave.
When she refused, they threatened to take the baby away.
Terrified and alone, she disappeared to protect her daughter.
She never stopped loving him.
She never stopped wanting him to know the truth.
But every year that passed made it harder to come back.
The man suddenly looked toward his elderly mother standing nearby.
Her face was filled with guilt.
She lowered her head.
"It was my decision," she whispered.
Gasps erupted around the room.
"I thought she wasn't good enough for our family. I thought I was protecting our future."
The room exploded with murmurs.
The man stared at his mother in disbelief.
"You stole twenty years from me."
His voice cracked.
"You stole twenty years from my daughter."
The older woman burst into tears.
"I'm sorry."
The waitress stood there speechless.
She had imagined this moment her entire life.
But she never imagined finding a broken father instead of a villain.
The woman in the red dress slowly approached her.
Ashamed, she said softly,
"I owe you an apology."
The young waitress nodded.
"I understand why you reacted that way."
The woman immediately embraced her.
May you like
"I'm sorry."
For the first time that night, the young woman allowed herself to cry without fear.
