Chapter 3: Home

Chapter 3: Home
One year later.
The gardens of Sterling Manor looked different.
Less formal.
More alive.
Children's toys rested near the fountain.
A soccer ball sat beside the roses.
Laughter echoed through the grounds.
Oliver raced across the grass wearing a superhero cape.
"Mommy! Daddy! Watch me!"
Daniel and Olivia stood side by side on the terrace.
Married again.
Not because of money.
Not because of guilt.
But because they had finally learned to trust each other.
Oliver jumped from a small stone ledge.
Landing safely.
Proud of himself.
Daniel applauded dramatically.
Olivia laughed.
The sound Daniel had missed for years.
Oliver ran back toward them.
The same little boy who had changed everything.
He grabbed both their hands.
"Family picture!"
A photographer waiting nearby smiled.
The three stood together beneath the afternoon sun.
Just before the camera clicked, Oliver looked up.
"Mommy?"
"Yes, sweetheart?"
"Are you staying forever?"
Olivia knelt and kissed his forehead.
"Forever."
Daniel wrapped an arm around both of them.
The camera flashed.
Capturing something wealth could never buy.
Not power.
Not status.
Not perfection.
Love.
Years later, Oliver would grow into one of the most successful leaders in the Sterling family history.
But whenever reporters asked him what shaped his life, he always gave the same answer.
"My mother found me."
And every time he said it, Olivia would smile.
Because the greatest miracle wasn't that a lost son found his mother.

It was that a broken family found its way home.
The End.
